B-9 NH / No. 3
A blank canvas. One final B-9 NH.
The final original B-9 NH, available as a one-off commission.
Its colours, graphics and final specification are yours to define.
Why No. 3?
The B-9 NH was originally developed with the ambition of producing a limited series of 100 bicycles. Interest in the project was strong, but the high investment required for low-volume carbon manufacturing ultimately prevented the series from entering production.
Only three original B-9 NH frame sets were built.
No. 1, finished in matte black, and No. 2, with its distinctive camouflage finish, became the working bicycles of the project. They were used for photography, presentations and exhibitions, but above all they were ridden extensively in everyday urban use.
Components used on No. 2 — including the BME Design frame, fork, integrated handlebar and stem, saddle assembly and crankset — were subjected to laboratory testing and passed the required safety and quality tests according to the EN 14764:2006 standard. Testing was carried out by an accredited Engineering Test Institute.
No. 2 was later developed further into the e-B-9 NH Mk II.
No. 3 was different. It was never painted, assembled or ridden.
Almost a decade later, it remains the only unfinished original B-9 NH.
Rather than defining its final appearance ourselves, we decided to leave that last chapter open for its future owner.
Made for One Owner
No. 3 exists today as a complete, unassembled B-9 NH, with all components required for the final build. It remains unassembled because the frame, components and rims will first receive a finish created specifically for its future owner.
Its unique paint scheme, component specification and final details can be developed individually with its future owner. Or its large, flat surfaces can become a canvas for an artist, turning the final B-9 NH into a unique piece of rideable art.
This possibility echoes an unrealised part of the original B-9 NH project: a special series of ten all-white bicycles intended as canvases for artists, each becoming a unique work of rideable art.
Once completed, this configuration and paint design will not be repeated.
Original or Electric
The bicycle can be completed in its original lightweight singlespeed configuration or, optionally, with the Zehus HALOS all-in-one electric rear hub system.
The recently completed e-B-9 NH Mk II demonstrates the electric integration while retaining the original character of the design. The complete e-bike weighs 12.6 kg.
A Design with History
Inspired by the geometry and visual language of the F-117 Nighthawk, the B-9 NH combines a handmade carbon frame and fork, one-piece carbon stem-handlebar, Gates Carbon Drive and custom BME Design components.
Since its introduction, the B-9 NH has received international attention and has been presented at design and bicycle exhibitions in Europe and the United States, including the Museum of Design Atlanta, Grassi Museum of Applied Arts Leipzig, Gewerbemuseum Winterthur, Eurobike, Like Bike Monte Carlo and the North American Handmade Bicycle Show.
